Meridian, TX
Park Review – Meridian State Park
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Location: Meridian, TX
Type: State Park
Check-in/Check-out times: 2:00/12:00
Site Quality / Amenities: I believe the full hookup sites are the only ones long enough for big rigs and in fact you really don’t want to go past the Crosstimbers campground (which is the full hookup campground) because the streets narrow and the limbs are cut lower. Roads and sites are asphalt in decent shape. Each site has a picnic table on a concrete pad ad well as a grill, a fire pit and a lantern pole.
Access: Easy access a few miles southwest of Meridian on TX-22.
Staff: Office staff were friendly and check in was quick and easy.
Cellular/WiFi: T-Mobile was marginal in the campground but we got enough signal to allow WiFi calling using our Starlink even though we had some minor obstructions due to trees. The park actually had WiFi but we did not use it although we had decent signal at our site.
Restaurants: We didn’t eat out in the area although there are some nice looking small town spots in Meridian and Clifton. We did go to the Clifton Classic Chassis & The Golden Age Gallery of Art and Artifacts in Clifton. This is mostly a classic car museum consisting of a former Dallas doctor’s collection along with some interesting antiques. This is definitely a gem if in the area. The Bosque Museum is also in town. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to go there but it sounds like it’s worth a visit as well.
Nearby parks: We drove through Clifton RV Park in Clifton and the park looked ok for a few nights but the lack of onsite staff was a bit concerning especially since they are slow to answer the phone when checking in. We’d probably look somewhere else.
What we liked: Very nice, small state park very similar to Tyler State park which is one of our favorite Texas state parks.
What we didn’t like: Unfortunately, you can’t see the lake from the full hookup sites although it is just a short walk away.
Verdict: We would stay here again if we are in the area. Need to book early as there are very few sites!

I was looking at your map and you don’t have many states left to visit to complete the map! How many years do you think it’ll take you to visit the remaining states?
