Park Review – Woodland Creek RV Park

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Location:
Tyler, TX
Type:
Commercial
Check-in/Check-out times:
2:00/12:00
Site Quality / Amenities:
Concrete streets and pads. Full hookups with a concrete patio and a picnic table as well as a fire pit at each site.
Staff: Even though we stayed for 3 weeks, we did not interact with staff at all beyond a few waves. Booking was all done via email and when we arrived there was an envelope on the door with our information.
Cellular/WiFi:
Excellent T-mobile service and nearly unobstructed sky for Starlink even though we had quite a bit of tree cover over our site. The park had WiFi but we didn’t use it.
What we liked: Convenient to the southern side of Tyler which in our opinion is the best side. Park was clean and well cared for. Lots of large trees. This is one of the most beautiful parks we have stayed in Texas.
What we didn’t like: Lack of personal contact with the owners who ran the park although we really didn’t have any issues where we needed them.
Verdict: We would definitely stay here again.

We spent two months (January and February 2021) at Tyler Oaks RV Resort north west of Tyler. We originally planned to go back to New Mexico for the winter but due to COVID and continued lockdowns there that were causing long lines just to get in a grocery store we decided to go back to Texas where we would have better medical care due to our insurance. We thought it might be easier to get vaccinations (which I was able to do but not Anna quite yet) and also that it would be warmer. Well, we should have known better about that one. Even as we left Colorado there was snow ahead of us going through Texas.

Tyler State Park

We loved our 5 night stay at Tyler State Park.  Gorgeous fall colors with cool, clear days and chilly nights that were perfect for campfires.  We arrived at the end of the weekend and stayed thru the week so the park was almost empty.  Daily nature hikes and bike rides with lots of hills and trails made us glad to back to nature once again.

Several animal friends came by this visit but thankfully no snakes!  Curious armadillos along the trails and extremely friendly raccoons, which got way to close while we were enjoying our campfires for Anna’s taste .
