Agree with you Val, we’re not looking for Disney either, not even close. Basic upkeep is yet another thing. I suspect the state just isn’t making funds available. The review was also about the campground not so much the cabins since we didn’t stay in them. Bias? Not sure why you would think we are biased. We have our opinion after visiting many parks across many states. I’m a Texan, it’s sad the shape of some areas of these parks.

I find the ” up keep ” well tended. Beautiful scenery and friendly people all around the area. It’s rustic and private with awesome hiking trails some of which are pretty rough….not for young children. I would hope that they don’t ” upgrade” as the reviewer suggested because we would hate to see huge giftshops and all that other crappy stuff in some state parks. If you want hotel-like parks maybe go to Disneyland? Brownwood is camping, boating and hiking at it’s best!! Nearby Brownwood has Underwoods Cafeteria which is the most awesome food that locals travel miles to get to! Don’t listen to bias reviews…check it out yourself.
